2025 Hong Kong Neurodiversity Conference

Theme: From SEN to Neurodiversity

In 2025, the journey of neurodiversity in Hong Kong reached a remarkable milestone where over 400 hundreds of attendees, 20 speakers and 20 supportive organizations were participating in the conference held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  â€‹

This significant event was marked by an impactful opening address from Dr. Ko Wing Man, followed by a thought-provoking keynote speech on stigmatization by Dr. Lawrence Fung.  The conference featured a compelling panel discussion that brought together influential leaders from non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, and medical fields, igniting generative and reflective conversations about the future and vision of integrating neurodiversity-affirmative practices locally.  To further deepen the discussion of transitioning from a deficit-based to a strength-based model, the conference also held parallel sessions of education, clinical practice, and employment with experts and leaders.  The conference also showcased our range of supportive partners who illustrated the practical implementation of the strength-based programs, creating a vibrant tapestry of collaboration and empowerment of neurodiversity!

2024 Hong Kong Neurodiversity Conference

Theme: Conceptualising Neurodiversity Through Design Thinking Process

In 2024, the dialogue around neurodiversity evolved at the "Conceptualizing Neurodiversity Through Design Thinking Process" conference, hosted at CityLab. In a collaborative effort co-led by Dr. Lawrence Fung and Ms. Emily Kwan, this event sought to unite diverse organizations and bridge communication gaps across sectors.

Participants gained invaluable insights into the principles of neurodiversity, while representatives from different fields discussed in small groups and shared their experiences, driving the possibilities of integrating strength-based practices into their professions. This dynamic exchange of ideas established solid ground for collaboration, inspiring new approaches to uplift the awareness of neurodversity in our community.

The event attracted over a hundred participants, including professors, community leaders, and students, all eager to engage in workshops that highlighted the innovative programs and projects from the Stanford Neurodiversity Project.

This workshop laid a strong foundation for future conversations about the strengths and capabilities of neurodiverse individuals, and the ways to support neurodiversity.
